Our first line of defense | Skin Care
This time of year our skin is extra dry and dehydrated from the circulated heat! I know this to be especially true in Denver, but seems to be a common skin concern from friends, relatives all over the country!
This brings us to try oils. All different types of oils on our skin for different effects. I will share a secret with you…. our oil that is made in our skin has a very specific molecular structure that emulsifies best with jojoba oil. Now with that being said, jojoba oil on its own will not give your skin the nutrients it needs. At least not on this planet! We barely have an ozone layer and our first line of defense needs that extra love in order to keep us healthy.
All of us will benefit from a fat soluble vitamin C serum which transports nutrients into the pore allowing our first line of defense to fully take in the vitamins and extracts. Sometimes I have clients who can handle coconut oil on their face but it is very rare to see someone handle that large of a molecule on their face without breaking out. I break out almost instantly because of my sensitivity to oils….especially low quality oils!
Many of of my clients know that in order to attain skin care goals that are realistic, there needs to be a few really good products incorporated into the skin care routine. There needs to be a blend of exercise and nourishment to compliment the skin cell’s turnover rate. No matter how acne prone your skin is, you really should incorporate one of the serums below. Most of my clients are pleasantly surprised how much their skin clears up from simply adding more nutrient dense moisture! Every skin type will benefit from either of the two serums I am mentioning.
In the morning, you should be using a vitamin C serum. It is the number one antioxidant that protects us from the environment and makes our spf work better. It also heals post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (a fancy word for trauma to the skin)I have worked with many “C serums” and they come in all types of mediums and smells and textures.
With recently dedicating my practice to eminence organics, I have fallen in love with the two c serums they have. Not only do I use the rose C serum personally, but I have gotten my boyfriend to use it (and he is super picky about putting anything on his face!) we love how potent the formulas are but don’t leave you feeling greasy at all!!
Eminence makes two vitamin C serums. The first one is the Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Serum. This one Is a Fast-absorbing, advanced serum for all skin types. This potent dose of non-irritating Vitamin C is stabilized by botanically-derived ferulic acid to deliver optimal antioxidant benefits and improve the appearance of skin. This soothes redness and inflammation! This serum is infused with hyaluronic acid which is a natural humectant that binds to water and helps drive it into your pores making it firmer, plumper and glowy. All you need is a drop for each part of your face (4 drops!) and allow to absorb for a few minutes before applying the tropical vanilla spf. (more on that later..)
Here are the key ingrediants--
Stabilized Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid): sourced from lemon and grapefruit, this potent antioxidant reduces the appearance of redness and soothes inflammation.
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate: Also known as Vitamin C salt, this unique form of Vitamin C remains a salt until it penetrates the surface of the skin. It is only at this point that it turns into Vitamin C, allowing the full benefits to be experienced.
Vitamin E: Sourced from avocado; delivers nutrients to the skin to improve the appearance of skin health.
Botanical Ferulic Acid: Powerful antioxidant naturally derived from the leaves of plants. Stabilizes the antioxidant benefits of Vitamin C and helps it retain potency.
Leafy Greens (Kale, Spinach & Broccoli Sprouts): High antioxidant content to help improve the appearance of skin elasticity and hydration for younger-looking skin.
Citrus Fruit Oils (Lemon & Grapefruit): Tones and refreshes the skin. Additional naturally occurring Vitamin C content helps protect against the visible signs of aging. Astringent properties help to balance oil production.
Avocado: Antioxidant that is moisturizing and hydrating to relieve dry and irritated skin.
Hydrolyzed Botanical Hyaluronic Acid (from grass extract): Deeply hydrating; natural substance that keeps skin looking plump to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The other C serum is Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil. The Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil is an effective facial treatment comprised of a blend of results-oriented actives and ingredients that provide intense hydration and protection. Designed as a complementary product to the Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Serum, this facial oil fights the signs of aging, smooths wrinkles and hydrates deeply. For use with all skin types.
Rosehip Oil: Rich in Vitamins C, E, and beta-carotene and essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids improve skin’s moisture, tone, texture as well as the look of pigmentation
Jojoba Oil: Helps in issues with sebum and soothes dry skin
Seabuckthorn Oil: A superfruit packed full of powerful antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids promote skin hydration and elasticity, and also help problem skin
Rosemary Leaf Extract: Conditions and smooths the skin
Milk Thistle: Contains silymarin, a polyphenol. Milk thistle helps maintain hydration in skin and prevents the signs of aging.
Either C serum can benefit any skin type & condition! It would be preference if you prefer something more stimulating and citrusy or calming in aromatic rose. Retails for $110.00 and will last you 4-5 months if used properly!
